The WordPress team released version 6.3.2 today. This is a maintenance release so it contains bug fixes and security updates. The fixes include:

  • 19 bug fixes for the WordPress Core.
  • 22 bug fixes for the block editor.
  • 8 security fixes.

The security fixes address issues that expose email addresses, open the site to cross-site scripting (XSS), and allow any logged-in user to execute any shortcode.  So it makes sense to apply the updates as soon as you can. We’ve already started upgrading our clients’ sites with the new version and haven’t encountered any issues.

However, as we always recommend, please ensure you have a stable backup of your website before doing any WordPress upgrade – even a minor one like this. if your site is mission-critical, you should consider upgrading on a staging server and running a regression test with key functionality.

The next major version of WordPress is version 6.4. It’s currently planned for early November and will include a new default theme (Twenty Twenty-Four), a lightbox feature, as well as updates for the block editor, bug fixes, and security fixes.

As always, if you have any questions, need help, or run into any problems with your upgrade, please reach out to us.
